"Iran hopes for socialist victory" - Kaveh Afrasiabihttp://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/NE05Ak01.html
Afrasiabi favors us with the warning from a "Tehran University political science professor" that a Hollande victory would "spell trouble for Israel." Guess Afrasiabi is counting on some anti-Semitic lefties being even more anti-Semitic than some righties. This alleged professor keeps making appearances in Afrasiabi's columns. Wouldn't be surprised to learn that the professor only exists in KA's mind. Someone should tell Afrasiabi that civilized behavior, or the lack thereof (such as with racism), is not an exclusive feature of either leftist or rightist governments.
As the votes are being tallied in France, we have it from Afrasiabi that Americans "may be influenced against the right-wing Romney by the French example." Such a totally ludicrous statement can only come from someone completely blind to the truth that the political opinions of most Americans are not shaped by any sort of pandering to European sensibilities. Picture, if you will, a chance meeting on Main Street, USA -
Hey, John, did you see that Hollande won in France?"
"Nope. Guess I'm going to have to vote for Obama then. How about you, Joe?"
"Not me. As long as Merkel heads up Germany, I'm going with Romney."
