Many times this year we heard Georgian President`s statements about the necessity to enlarge his military contingent in Afghanistan. According to the official data published in summer, the number of Georgian troops in the NATO mission in Afghanistan will be increased from 900 to 1675. Thus, Georgia will be the most powerful non-alliance country in this operation.
Also, Georgia will have the highest ratio between the personnel deployed in Afghanistan and population of contributing country even in comparison with the NATO leading countries, i.e. USA, Germany, Canada and Turkey.
While the Baltic countries, Great Britain, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and some other states gradually reduce and withdraw their military troops from Afghanistan, such a decision of Tbilisi seems a bit strange. Moreover, sending the next batch of “cannon folder” seems not only inhuman, cruel and immoral, but ‘politically incorrect’. It is necessary to strengthen forces near the borders with South Ossetia and Abkhazia, where numerous and well-trained Russian troops are deployed and where the situation can explode at any moment.
Instead, Tbilisi weakens Georgia’s national security system by sending a lot of military force to a faraway country. Meanwhile, 16 Georgian soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan as for now – for some aims, pursued by Saakashvili regime. However, it is not clear what these aims are. Let me remind you that the number of Georgian soldiers killed is greater than that of Portugal, Rumania, Belgium and Baltic countries (NATO members, by the way), and Sweden, Finland and Norway. So, isn’t it the time to stop?

Why do we need these teritories? Rassia won't return it to us!!! We need take care of Georgians, increase leaving standarts, develop food industry. Our agriculture is almost on the down-grade.
